Vermischtes aus mehreren Projekten

Linda Hibbert von Silver Linings Originals, bei der es die in meinen Augen großartigsten Paper Piecing Designs gibt, hat im Januar einen neuen BoM gestartet. Thema dieses Jahr: Treasures from the West. Jetzt hab ich mal den Januar-Block, einen Cowboy-Stiefel genäht.

Linda Hibbert of Silver Linings Originals, who in my opinion is one of the greatest Paper Piecing Pattern designers, has launched a new BoM in January. The theme this year is: Treasures from the West. I just started with the January block, Cowboy Boot.

Außerdem kann ich, da ja heute der letzte Tag des Monats ist, meine Blöckchen zeigen, die ich für die Hasenbach Challenge genäht habe.
In addition, now that another month is over, I can show you the blocks that I have sewn for the Hasenbach Challenge.

Eigentlich hatte ich ja keine Stoffe aus der neuesten Tula Pink-Kollektion kaufen wollen, aber als mir die Elizabeth dann zufällig in die Hände gefallen ist, konnte ich dann doch nicht widerstehen ;-) Dies sind die City-Sampler-Blöcke für diese Woche.

Initially I didn't have the intention to buy fabric from the latest Tula Pink Collection, but when I accidently stumbled upon Elizabeth, I could not resist ;-) These are the City Sampler blocks for this week.

Ich bin ja seit meinem Geburtstag immer noch täglich dabei, kleine Päckchen von Waltraud in Eiform auszupacken. Neben einer Quetschmünze waren nach den ganzen Australien-Fingerhüten jetzt welche aus Österreich und Luxembourg drin.

Since my birthday I am still unpacking small egg-shaped packages from Waltraud each day. In addition to an Elongated Coin and all the thimbles from Australia now I got some from Austria and Luxembourg.

Nachtrag zu meinen Geburtstagsgeschenken: Ich habe noch immer nicht alle Fingerhüte ausgepackt, die mir Waltraud zum Geburtstag geschenkt hat. Insgesamt sind es 25 Päckchen (jeden Tag öffne ich ein weiteres...) und dies ist der Inhalt der ersten 10 - alles Fingerhüte aus Australien und bisher alle von Orten, wo ich schon einmal war :-)
Followup to my birthday gifts: I still have not unpacked all the thimbles Waltraud has given me for my birthday. In total there are 25 parcels (I am opening one of them each day) and this is the content of the first ten - all thimbles from Australia and so far all of places that I have visited myself :-)

Zum Geburtstag hat mir Martina nebst anderer Kölner Kleinigkeiten und einer AMC einen Fingerhut aus Köln geschickt :-)
For my Birthday Martina sent me a thimble along with other little somethings from Cologne and one of her AMCs :-)



Von meiner Freundin Gisela habe ich einige Quetschmünzen bekommen. Dazu hat sie mir diese praktische Aufbewahrungstasche genäht, die man einfach mit den Münzen zusammenrollen kann. Genial, oder?

From my friend Gisela I got some Elongated Coins. She also sewed this practical storage bag for me that you can roll up easily with the coins inside. Awesome, right?

 

Und Waltraud hat mir von ihrer Australien-Reise diese Fingerhüte mitgebracht.

City Sampler Endspurt

Aus dem Block, den ich für Janeens Magazin genäht habe, habe ich einen Miniquilt gemacht.
From the block, I had sewn for Janeen's magazine, I made a mini quilt.
 

Kaum zu glauben, aber wir haben schon wieder ein City Sampler Kapitel geschafft! Nach den Quadraten kommt nun das letzte Kapitel, das Tula Pink "Haiku" genannt hat, weil es Blöcke enthält, die sich diesmal nicht an einer bestimmten Form orientieren, sondern der Hauptaugenmerk auf der Komposition liegt.
Dies sind alle meine Blöcke zum Kapitel "Squares":

Hard to believe, but we have completed yet another City Sampler chapter! After the squares now comes the last chapter, which Tula Pink called "Haiku" because it contains blocks that this are not based on a particular form, but the main focus is on the composition.

Wie in der Buchvorlage habe ich für Block 82 den Blumenstoff aus der "Parisville"-Kollektion verwendet, nur in der Farbe "Sprout" anstatt "Mist". Aber habt ihr eigentlich schon mal die Mäuschen gesehen, die sich da zwischen den Blumen verstecken? Mir sind sie auch erst jetzt beim Nähen aufgefallen. 

Similar to the sample in the book, I used the flower fabric from the "Parisville" collection for block 82, only in the colorpattern "Sprout" instead of "Mist". But have you ever actually noticed the tiny mice hidden among the flowers?  I only discovered them when sewing this block!

Hasenbach Challenge im Februar

Frühling?

Janeen von Quilt Art Designs veröffentlicht einmal im Vierteljahr das Paper Piecing Magazin Paper Piecing 1/4" mit einer Vielzahl von Vorlagen. Da es ja jede Menge Arbeit ist, die Muster zu entwerfen und dann anschließend auch noch zu nähen, habe ich ihr ein wenig unter die Arme gegriffen und nach einem ihrer Entwürfe aus dem im nächsten April erscheinenden Magazin diesen Mini-Quilt genäht. Ist der nicht bezaubernd?

Janeen of Quilt Art Designs is publishing a quarterly Paper Piecing Magazine - Paper Piecing 1/4" - with a variety of patterns. Since it is a lot of work to design all the patterns and then also having to sew them, she's been looking for help with the sewing. So I made this mini-quilt after a pattern from the next issue appearing in April. Isn't it adorable?

Außerdem habe ich mich bei Janeen für ein weiteres Quilt-Along-Projekt angemeldet, das im März beginnt und 12 Wochen dauert. Ich freu mich schon drauf :-)

Moreover I subscribed to another Quilt-Along project at Janeen's. It starts in March and we will doing it in 12 weeks. I can't wait to start sewing :-)

Noch einmal Wintermagie

Jetzt habe ich endlich das Top von meinem Wintermagie-Quilt fertiggestellt. Die Vorlagen gab es als Adventskalender bei Roswitha. Ein paar Blöcke habe ich abgeändert. Die Buchstaben sind von Regina Grewe, die Blaumeise von Claudia Hasenbach, die anderen Paper-Piecing-Blöcke habe ich auf Craftsy gefunden. 

I have finally completed the top of my winter magic quilt. Roswitha had published the patterns and overall layout as part of an advent calender. I have changed a few blocks, though. The letters are from Regina Grewe, the blue tit from Claudia Hasenbach, the other paper piecing blocks I've found at Craftsy.

Wie immer gibt es auch diese Woche zwei Tula Pink Blöcke von ihrem City Sampler. Die Stoffe, die ich für Block # 75 verwendet habe, sind aus der alten Stoffserie "Flutterby".

Ein langes Kreativ-Wochenende

Vier intensive Tage habe ich auf Schloss Hersberg inmitten von Weinbergen hoch über dem Bodensee bei einem Workshop mit Margit Amann von Glembotzki verbracht.

In dem Kurs "Doppelseitiger Log Cabin" werden zwei sehr moderne, unterschiedliche graphische Entwürfe für Top und Rückseite erstellt, die als Arbeitsgrundlage für die Umsetzung - eventuell mit selbstgestalteten Stoffen - dienen. Die entstandenen individuellen Arbeiten erinnern nur noch durch die Nähtechnik an die traditionelle Arbeitsweise.

Das gleichzeitige Verarbeiten von zwei ganz unterschiedlichen Entwürfen erfordert ein hohes Maß an Konzentration und eine ausgefeilte Entwurfstechnik, die uns Margit kompetent vermittelt hat. 


I spent four intense days at Schloss Hersberg surrounded by vineyards high above Lake Constance participating in a workshop with Margit Amann von Glembotzki.

During the workshop "Double-Sided Log Cabin" two very modern, different graphic designs for top and back are created which serve as a working basis for the final implementation of a double-sided quilt.  
Processing two very different designs simultaneously requires a high degree of concentration and a sophisticated design technique that Margit has taught us competently.

Hasenbach Challenge

Ich nehme ja gerade an einem Workshop teil und habe daher eigentlich keine Zeit, um einen Post zu verfassen. Aber heute ist ja "Zeigetag" bei Katrins Hasenbach-Challenge (auf Papier genähte Blöcke nach den Anleitungen von Claudia Hasenbach) und ich mache da zum ersten Mal mit. Daher zeige ich euch dennoch kurz mein Blöckchen, das ich einerseits für die Challenge und andererseits für meinen Wintermagie-Mystery genäht habe.

As you may know I am currently away on a workshop and don't really have any time to write a post. But today is "Showing Day" of Katrin's Hasenbach Challenge (monthly paper pieced blocks after patterns of Claudia Hasenbach) and I am participating for the first time. That's why I am showing you my little block that I made for the challenge and for my Winter Magic Mystery Quilt at the same time after all.

Eine neue Woche

Diese Woche nehme ich mal wieder an einem Workshop auf Schloss Hersberg teil. Wir werden mit Margit Amann von Glembotzki einen "Doppelseitigen Log Cabin" nähen. Dafür habe ich letzte Woche Stoffe gefärbt.

This week I will once again be participating in a workshop at Schloss Hersberg. We will sew a "double-sided log cabin" with Margit Amann von Glembotzki. That's why I have been dying fabrics last week.
