Fliegende Fische

Ich grüße euch aus der Karibik! Da ich ja gerade auf Barbados bin, habe ich mir für die Hasenbach-Challenge ein passendes Thema ausgesucht: einen "Flying Fish"! Fliegende Fische sind hier Wahrzeichen und Nationalgericht, das man überall bekommt, und einer ist sogar auf der 1-Dollar-Münze abgebildet.

Greetings from the Caribbean! Since I am in Barbados right now, I have chosen a suitable topic for the Hasenbach-Challenge: a "Flying Fish"! Flying fish are common here and the national dish, which you get everywhere, and one is even depicted on the one dollar coin.

Barbados hat eine rauhe, felsige Atlantikküste und schöne, weiße Strände auf der Karibikseite. Das schönste an Barbados ist jedoch, dass wir unseren Sohn wiedergesehen haben, der hier ein Jahr lang lebt und an der "University of the West Indies" studiert.

Barbados has a rough, rocky Atlantic coast and beautiful white beaches on the Caribbean side. The nicest thing about Barbados is,though, that we have met our son again, who lives here for a year to study at the University of the west Indies.

Und weiter geht es die Kleinen Antillen hinauf nach Norden. Grenada ist bekannt für die diversen Gewürze, die dort wachsen, insbesondere Muskat und Kakao.

Up north along the islands of the Lesser Antilles.  Grenada is famous for the various spices that grow all over the island, especially nutmeg and cocoa.

Auf Trinidad gibt es den größten natürlichen Asphaltsee der Welt, den "Pitch Lake". Ein unterirdischer Schlammvulkan produziert ständig neues Bitumen, das in die ganze Welt exportiert wird.

Du hast Trinidad nicht gesehen, wenn du nicht am Maracas Beach das Nationalgericht "Bake & Shark" gegessen hast - frittierter Hai im Fladenbrötchen, das man außerdem selbst mit allerlei frischen Zutaten und diversen Soßen füllt. Sehr lecker!

You haven't seen Trinidad if you haven't tried the national  dish  "Bake & Shark" at Maracas Beach - fried shark in a special bun additionally topped with cucumber, tomatoes, pineapple, lettuce.... and various dressings. Very tasty!
