Es ist Tula-Montag

Wie immer montags gibt es zwei neue City-Sampler-Blöcke. Hab mich mal wieder im fussy-cutting geübt. Hat mich immerhin drei Frösche gekostet ;-)

It's Tula monday and as usual I have two more City Sampler blocks to show. Did some fussy cutting here.

Außerdem habe ich ein weiteres Viertel des Freedom-for-All-Quilts genäht.

Moreover I have sewn one more quarter of the "Freedom for All" quilt.

More Freedom

Das zweite Viertel meines "Freedom For All"- Tops ist geschafft. Der Schwanz des Lachses fehlt noch, da er später in den Rand hineinragen wird.

The second quarter of my "Freedom For All" top is done. The tail of the salmon is still missing, as it will be part of the border.

Freedom for all

Hier der erste Teil meines Foundation Piecing Quilts - der mit den vielen kleinen Teilchen ;-) Er heißt "Freedom For All" und zeigt einen Weißkopfadler, der gerade einen Lachs fängt. Im Hintergrund wird man Mt. McKinley im Denali State Park sehen.

Here is the first part of my Foundation Piecing Quilt - the one with the many small Pieces ;-) It is called "Freedom For All" and shows an American Bald Eagle catching a salmon. In the background you will see Mt. McKinley in Denali State Park.

Tula Pink City Sampler German QAL

Vor einer Weile hatte ich ja angefangen, den City Sampler von Tula Pink zu nähen. Nun hat Sandra ein QAL ins Leben gerufen, bei dem jede Woche immer montags zwei Blöcke genäht werden. Die Ergebnisse können dann in einer eigenen Flickr-Group bewundert werden. Für mich ein tolle Gelegenheit, um am Ball zu bleiben und nicht auf halber Strecke aufzugeben. Hier sind meine ersten vier Blöcke:

A while ago I had begun to sew the City Sampler by Tula Pink. Now Sandra has launched a QAL, where every Monday two blocks are sewn. The results of all participantss can be admired in our Flickr Group. For me it's a great opportunity to hang in there and not to give up halfway. Here are my first four blocks:

Hier fand die Schlacht von Trafalgar statt, bei der die Briten unter Admiral Nelson die spanische und französische Flotte 1805 besiegten. Die Straße zum Leuchtturm wird nach und nach von der Natur zurückerobert.

Here the Battle of Trafalgar took place, where the British under Lord Nelson defeated the French and the Spanish fleet in 1805. The road to the lighthouse is gradually being reclaimed by nature.

Nichts für Angsthasen

Ein wenig Mut braucht es schon, mit diesem Quilt anzufangen. Aber genau diese Herausforderung hat mich gereizt ;-)
Die Vorlage habe ich schon vor einigen Jahren aus den USA mitgebracht, aber jetzt traue ich mich endlich daran.

Not for the faint of heart? Okay, it takes a little courage just to get started with this quilt. But exactly this challenge appealed to me ;-)
I brought the pattern from the USA a few years ago, but now I finally dare to begin with this task.

Mal sehen, wie lange ich dazu brauchen werde....
Aber das muss jetzt erst mal warten, denn zunächst einmal zieht es mich mal wieder nach Spanien, genauer gesagt nach Andalusien.

Let's see how long it will take me to complete this quilt....
But this must wait now for a little longer, because first of all I will fly to Spain once again, more specifically to beautiful Andalusia.

Habe im Moment keine großen Projekte am Laufen, nur hin und wieder nähe ich einen Hobbit-Block - diesmal "Barrels out of Bond" (Vorlage von Lilja Björk), "The Bridge to Rivendell" (Vorlage von Jennifer Ofenstein)  und "The Lord of the Eagles" (Vorlage von Jennifer Ofenstein), den ich aber in einer anderen Version nochmal nähen werde, weil er mir doch nicht so gefällt.

I have no big projects on the go at the moment, only now and then I am sewing a Hobbit-block - this time "Barrels out of Bond" (pattern by Lilja Björk), "The Bridge to Rivendell" (pattern by Jennifer Ofenstein) and "The Lord of the Eagles" (pattern by Jennifer Ofenstein), but I will sew another version of this block, as I don't really like it after all.

Ich habe ihn noch schnell vor Ostern nach einer Vorlage von Regina Grewe genäht. Habe die Originalvorlage etwas verkleinert, damit er an meinen Mini-Quiltständer passt.

I have sewn it just in time before Easter after a pattern by Regina Grewe. I reduced the original pattern in size a bit to fit in my mini quilt stand.

Bei Regina Grewe gab es inzwischen den vierten Teil des Frühlings-Mysterys. Nach einigem Puzzeln habe ich die Lösung herausbekommen und schnell den Findus zusammengenäht :-)

Regina Grewe meanwhile published the fourth part of the Spring Mystery. After some puzzling I found out the solution and quickly sewed together Findus :-)

Seht mal, was mir die liebe Cheryl aus Australien geschickt hat! Sie war ja meine Partnerin bei Chookyblues Secret Santa Christmas Swap gewesen und hat mich jetzt mit diesem Dankeschön überrascht. Innen ist das Täschchen mit allerlei Nähutensilien gefüllt.

There and back again

Zum Geburtstag habe ich das Buch "100 Modern Quilt Blocks" von Tula Pink geschenkt bekommen. Da ich bereits seit einiger Zeit Tula Pink Stoffe gesammelt hatte, habe ich gleich mal die ersten Blöckchen genäht.

For my birthday I was given the book "100 Modern Quilt Blocks" by Tula Pink. Since I had been collecting Tula Pink fabrics for some time, I immediately sewed the first blocks.

Martina hat mir mal wieder einen schönen Fingerhut für meine Sammlung geschenkt. Und eine tolle Geburtstagskarte dazu :-) 

Martina once again has given me a beautiful thimble for my collection. And a great birthday card on top of that :-)

Tolkien-Kenner werden aus dem Titel dieses Postings bereits entnehmen können, dass ich Mittelerde noch immer nicht hinter mir gelassen habe ;-) In der Tat habe ich einen ersten Block des "Fandom-in-Stitches" Projekts "There and Back Again" genäht. Dieser Quilt besteht aus Motiven aus Tolkiens "Der Hobbit".

Tolkien enthusiasts might already have guessed from the title of this post that I still have not left Middle-Earth behind me;-) In fact, I have sewn a first block of the "Fandom-in-Stitches" project "There and Back Again". This quilt is made of motifs from Tolkien's "The Hobbit".

Bei Regina Grewe gibt es einen frühlingshaften Mystery, den ich natürlich mitnähen muss. Allerdings kann ich auch nach dem dritten Teil noch nicht erkennen, was daraus entstehen wird.

There is a Spring Mystery available over at Regina Grewe's site.  I have joined in the fun, of course. However, I still cannot guess what will emerge from it even after the third part.

Außerdem bin ich gerade dabei, das Top zu quilten, das ich aus diesen Blöcken genäht habe, die ich bereits vor einiger Zeit zum Geburtstag von Mitgliedern meiner Quiltgruppe bekommen habe. 

Also, I just started to quilt the top that I made from these blocks. I got them some time ago from a bithday swap of members of my quilt group. 

Ich war mal wieder in...

Berlin ist immer wieder eine Reise wert, wenn's auch nur ein kurzer Besuch war.

Berlin is always worth a journey, even though the visit has been a short one.
