Tatsächlich werde ich demnächst so weit weg von zuhause sein wie noch nie, denn ich werde endlich einmal Neuseeland besuchen. Neben vielen anderen Orten dieses schönen Landes werden auch einige Drehorte der Herr der Ringe- und Hobbit-Filmszenen auf dem Programm stehen.  

 

Zuvor geht’s aber erst nach Singapur und Australien. Da war ich allerdings schon einmal… vor 35 Jahren (du meine Güte, muss ich alt sein!)… Damals war die Reise ins australische Outback noch ein richtiges Abenteuer, denn die 1800+ km von Port Augusta bis Tennant Creek waren noch nicht geteert und die Fahrt auf der staubigen Wellblechpiste eine wirkliche Herausforderung. Auch wenn die Fahrt nun langweiliger sein wird und sicher viel mehr Menschen unterwegs sein werden, wollen wir trotzdem noch einmal ins Landesinnere und den Ayers Rock, inzwischen in “Uluru” umbenannt, besuchen.

In fact, I'll soon be as far away from home as ever, because I'll finally visit New Zealand. Among many other places of this lovely country I will also visit some locations of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie scenes.

But I will visit Singapore and Australia first. I’ve been there before ... 35 years ago (my goodness, I have to be old!) ... Back then the trip through the Australian Outback was still a real adventure, because the 1800+ km road from Port Augusta to Tennant Creek had not yet been paved. The ride on the dusty gravel track had been a real challenge. Even if the trip will be more boring now and surely more crowded, we still want to visit Central Australia again – and Ayers Rock, today called Uluru.

Wenn ich kann, werde ich von unterwegs ab und zu ein paar Bilder posten. Ansonsten bin ich in zwei Monaten wieder zurück Dann ist der Winter hier hoffentlich vorbei…

Nach Weihnachten….

…ist bekanntlich vor Weihnachten.

Jetzt habe ich noch die restlichen Blöcke für meinen Christmas Sampler fertiggestellt. Ich werde sie aber erst vor dem nächsten Weihnachtsfest zusammennähen und einen Quilt draus machen. Jetzt habe ich erst mal eine längere Nähpause, denn ich werde einige Zeit verreisen .

After Christmas is before Christmas, you know.

By now I have finished the remaining blocks for my Christmas Sampler. I will wait with sewing the blocks together and making a quilt out of it until next Christmas. Now I have a longer sewing pause, because I will be travelling for some time.

Secret Santa 2016

Santa ist nun nicht mehr geheim, denn an Weihnachten konnte ich natürlich mein SSCS Geschenk aus Norwegen auspacken. Tonje hat mir diese Tasche genäht!

Santa no longer is secret, because at Christmas naturally I was allowed to unwrap my SSCS gift from Norway. Tonje has sewn this bag for me!

 

Dazu gab es noch eine passende kleinere Innentasche/Dokumententasche(?).

Also, there was a matching smaller inner pocket / document bag (?).

Mir gefallen die verwendeten Stoffe. Die sind genau nach meinem Geschmack!

I like the fabrics she used. They are exactly to my taste!

 

Tonje hat London als Thema gewählt und einen entsprechenden Stoff für die Rückseite genommen. Außerdem hat sie noch einen London-Magnet dazugepackt.

Tonje chose London as a theme and a corresponding fabric for the back. In addition, she added a London magnet.

Auch dieses Jahr habe ich wieder einige Weihnachts-AMCs genäht und verschickt.

Anscheinend ist die Zeit für diese Karten jedoch vorbei, denn ich bekomme fast nur noch Emails statt genähter Karten. Daher werde ich mir diese Arbeit nächstes Jahr wohl auch nicht mehr antun. Hier sind die schönen Karten von Martina und Sabine. Vielen Dank euch beiden!

SSCS Paket in Australien angekommen

Meine größte Sorge beim jährlichen SSCS Swap ist immer, dass das Paket auf dem langen Weg nach Australien verloren geht. Um so größer die Freude und Erleichterung, wenn die Meldung kommt, dass es angekommen ist. Annette durfte ja das Päckchen mit dem Anhänger sofort öffnen, nur mit dem Hauptgeschenk muss sie sich bis Weihnachten gedulden.

My biggest concern about the annual SSCS swap is always that the package might get lost on the long road to Australia. The greater the joy and relief when the message comes that it has arrived. Annette was allowed to open the package with the ornament immediately, she will have to wait with opening the main gift until Christmas, though.

Als Christbaum-Anhänger hatte ich diesmal einen Stoff-Stern gefaltet. Wer Fröbel-Sterne kennt, erkennt sicher das Muster…

For the Christmas ornament I had folded a fabric star this time. If you are familiar with Fröbel Stars, you surely will recognize the pattern ...

Für meinen modernen Christmas-Sampler habe ich noch ein paar Blöckchen genäht. Es ist jedoch abzusehen, dass ich es nicht schaffen werde, den gesamten Quilt vor Weihnachten fertigzustellen…. jedenfalls nicht vor diesem Weihnachtsfest….

I have sewn a few more blocks for my modern Christmas sampler. It is, however, foreseeable that I will not be able to complete the entire quilt before Christmas .... in any case not before this year’s Christmas ....
