Du hast Trinidad nicht gesehen, wenn du nicht am Maracas Beach das Nationalgericht "Bake & Shark" gegessen hast - frittierter Hai im Fladenbrötchen, das man außerdem selbst mit allerlei frischen Zutaten und diversen Soßen füllt. Sehr lecker!

You haven't seen Trinidad if you haven't tried the national  dish  "Bake & Shark" at Maracas Beach - fried shark in a special bun additionally topped with cucumber, tomatoes, pineapple, lettuce.... and various dressings. Very tasty!

Heuschrecke

Diese Heuschrecke ist mein Monatsbeitrag zur Hasenbach-Challenge im September.

Die Blöcke der anderen Teilnehmer gibt's, wie immer, bei Katrin.

This grasshopper is my contribution to the monthly Hasenbach-Challenge in September.

Auch dieses Jahr mache ich wieder bei Chookyblues Weihnachtsswap mit. Habe wieder eine Partnerin aus Australien und bin schon fleißig am Nähen, da ich ja bald noch in Urlaub gehe. Zeigen kann ich das allerdings erst an Weihnachten.

This year I am participating again in Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap. I have got a partner from Australia again and as I will be away on vacation for a while, I am already busy with sewing. However I cannot show it to you before Christmas.

Fire and Blood

Wer mich kennt, weiß, dass ich ein großer "Game of Thrones"-Fan bin. Früher oder später musste es ja dazu kommen, dass ich etwas zu diesem Thema nähe. Zum Glück ist auch Fandom-in-Stitches- Designerin Michelle Thompson ein GoT-Fan und hat schon jede Menge Vorlagen entworfen.
Jetzt habe ich mal mit dem Wappen der Targaryens begonnen. Ich weiß noch nicht, ob das der Anfang eines GoT-Quilts ist oder ob ich nur ein Kissen daraus mache.

Das Wappen des Hauses Targaryen zeigt einen dreiköpfigen, roten Drachen auf schwarzem Grund. Ihr Sinnspruch lautet "Feuer und Blut". 

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a big "Game of Thrones" fan. So it has been inevitable that sooner or later I would sew something on this subject. Luckily “Fandom-in-Stitches” designer Michelle Thompson is also a GoT fan and has already designed a lot of patterns.

Now I have started with the sigil of the Targaryens. I have not yet decided whether this block is the beginning of a GoT quilt or whether I rather use it to make a pilowcase.

Außerdem bin ich mal wieder von Martina mit wunderbaren Fingerhüten beschenkt worden, die sie von ihrem Frankreich-Urlaub mitgebracht hat. Der Hammer, oder?

Lucky me – once again Martina brought me some wonderful thimbles from her vacation in France. Quite awesome, right?

Treasures from the West

Von Linda Hibberts aktueller BoM-Serie habe ich diesen Block genäht. Da für viele von uns hierzulande vermutlich nicht sofort ersichtlich ist, was das sein soll, da ein Western-Sattel bei uns kein alltäglicher Gegenstand ist, habe ich zum Vergleich ein Foto eines solchen Sattels herausgesucht.

I have sewn another block from Linda Hibbert's current BoM series. As for many of us in this country it probably is not immediately obvious what that is, because a Western Saddle is not a common subject over here, I have picked a photo of such a saddle for comparison.

Hasenbach-Blöckchen im August

Nun habe ich tatsächlich schon vier Wochen nichts gepostet. Das liegt daran, dass ich auch nichts genäht habe, sondern den Sommer in vollen Zügen genossen habe. Das Wetter war dieses Jahr endlich mal ganz nach meinem Geschmack, die Familie seit langem mal wieder komplett... besser geht's kaum :-)

It’s actually been four weeks that I haven’t posted anything here. This is due to the fact that I haven’t been sewing anything, but have been enjoying the summer to the fullest. The weather this year was entirely to my taste, the family finally complete again ... It could hardly be better  :-)

Heute ist also wieder Zeigetag für die Hasenbach Challenge. Glücklicherweise hatte ich den Frosch bereits Anfang des Monats genäht, sodass ich jetzt immerhin etwas zum Zeigen habe.

So today it is time to show the monthly Hasenbach Challenge block. Luckily I had the frog already sewn earlier this month, so at least I have something to show.

Where I live at the Lake of Constance there are a lot of swans. 

So this time I have chosen the swan block for the Hasenbach Challenge.
