Nun ist sie fertig - "Love Squared"! Auf ihrem Rock sind 180 Quadrate von Menschen aus aller Welt, die sich an diesem schönen Project zugunsten der Brustkrebshilfe beteiligt haben. Jetzt hoffen wir, dass sie auch eine Menge Geld einbringt :)

Scouting Quilt

Nun ist er endlich fertig, mein Pfadfinder-Quilt :))

I finally finished my quilt about scouting :))

I tried to depict the key aspects of scouting life like campfire activities, the promise, camps and jamborees, living consistent with nature, etc.

Ich hab versucht, die Schwerpunkte des Pfadfinderlebens darzustellen wie Lagerfeuerleben, das Pfadfinderversprechen, Lager und Jamborees, Schwarzzelte/Kohten, Leben im Einklang mit der Natur, etc.

Schaut mal, was ich hier um meinen Hals habe! Look, what I have around my neck!
Diese Kette hat Ellen für mich angefertigt. Sie hat dazu Bilder meiner Eltern und Großmütter verwendet und diese in Bierflaschendeckel eingegossen.
It's a necklace that Ellen made for me with pictures of my parents and grandmothers that she mounted into resin casted bottle caps.

Und dies habe ich heute auch noch in meinem Briefkasten vorgefunden: ein kleiner aufgezogener Druck von einer von Mary Beths Collagen.

And here is the other thing I found in the mail today: a cute little mounted collage print from Mary Beth!

AMC Sketch

Von Hanna aus Österreich habe ich diese AMC bekommen. Thema des Tauschs war "Faux Postage", d.h. die Karte sollte wie eine Briefmarke gestaltet werden. Siehe auch hier.

Hanna from Austria sent me this AMC. The subject for this swap had been "Faux Postage", that means you were supposed to create a card resembling a stamp. See also here.

Crow Doll

Vor einer Weile war in der "cloth-paper-scissors" eine Anleitung für verschiedene Krähen. Nun habe ich es endlich geschafft, ein Exemplar zu nähen.

I found the pattern for those crow dolls in "cloth-paper-scissors" a while ago. Finally I got around to sewing one.

Oh happy day...

You have to look at this! It's almost unbelievable.

All these wonderful things were in the package I received from Rosemary today! (Visit her blog at: Living as Rosa!) It's a surprise package I had won at the One World One Heart event. (I actually won five prizes!!!!) Rosemary picked all those items for me that will make a quilter's heart leap :)

Eigentlich unfassbar, dass all diese wunderbaren Sachen in dem Päckchen waren, das ich heute von Rosemary bekommen habe! (Hier könnt ihr ihren Blog besuchen: Living as Rosa!) Ich hatte dieses Überraschungspaket bei der One World One Heart Aktion gewonnen. (Ich hab da insgesamt fünf Preise gewonnen!!!!) Faux Postage

Beim Sketch-Kartentausch#3 bei Art4card hat Britta als Layout für die zu tauschende AMC eine Briefmarke vorgegeben. Hier ist meine AMC-Marke. Da ich für meinen Pfadfinder-Quilt so viele Vorlagen gesammelt hatte, hat sich das Thema nochmals angeboten.

At the Art4card sketch swap #3 Britta chose a stamp layout for the AMC. Here is what I came up with. Since I had collected so many samples for my scouting quilt I couldn't resist to work on this subject once again.

Ruby Doll from Dot

Well, opening the mailbox almost turns into an exciting adventure these days ;-) Today it revealed a package from Australia with one of Dot's gorgeous dolls. She made her just for me! Isn't she just lovely? Thank you so much, Dot!

Also das Öffnen des Briefkastens entwickelt sich zur Zeit fast zu einem spannenden Abenteuer ;-) Heute enthielt er ein Päckchen aus Australien mit einer von Dots hinreißenden Puppen. Sie hat sie extra für mich gemacht! Ist sie nicht allerliebst? Herzlichen Dank, Dot!

Cyber Fyber Exhibition

Yet another project I couldn't resist to participate in ;-) : Susan Lenz's Cyber Fyber Exchange.
Noch ein Project, bei dem ich nicht widerstehen konnte mitzumachen ;-) Susan Lenz's Cyber Fyber Exchange.

I copied the following explanation from her blog :

"CYBER FYBER is an exhibition of international fiber art scheduled for January 8th through 20th, 2009 at Gallery 80808/Vista Studios, 808 Lady Street in downtown Columbia, South Carolina, USA. The brainchild of Susan Lenz, this exhibit will focus on the supportive, global community of fiber artists with whom Susan regularly shares new techniques, contemporary approaches to textiles, and finished work by Internet websites and blogs. The exhibition will include three primary areas: Fiber ATCs (Artist Trading Cards); fiber postcards; and the work of several invited artists. The exhibition will also include FIBER DAY and ATC trading day. From the beginning, Susan Lenz is documenting CYBER FYBER on a blog/journal. "

I sent her one of my Scout ATCs that I made a year ago to mark the centenary of scouting, in remembrance of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the international scouting movement.

Ich hab ihr eine meiner Pfadfinder ATCs geschickt, die ich vor einem Jahr aus Anlass des 100jährigen Pfadfinder-Jubiläums gemacht habe, in Erinnerung an Sir Robert Baden-Powell, den Gründer der internationalen Pfadfinderbewegung.

Here is the ATC I got in return. Hier ist die ATC, die ich im Austausch bekam.

"This ATC was made after cutting up an older piece of work. That work was made as the centerpiece for my first solo exhibition. It was based on architectural elements found in Gothic and Romanesque churches. The piece was created using chiffons on a heat transfer painted base. It was free motion embroidered."
